How LED Light Therapy Works

LED therapy is a process that emits LED lights on your face, neck and decollete in different spectrums or wavelengths. The wavelengths differ depending on the type of treatment you want. In this case, clients use a LED light over their face to receive their treatment. The light-waves sent to your skin triggers reactions in your skin cells at the dermis layer. Your dermis layer then converts the light into a type of energy that allows your cells to heal your skin. Basically, the facial light therapy helps speed up your skins ability to perform its natural functions.

What LED is

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Depending on the setting of the device/color associated to the setting, the results are amazing.  Blue light dominate (Acne setting) helps to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation.  Red light dominate (wrinkles setting), boosts collagen and elastin to decrease fine lines, pigmentation, even skin tone, and reduce inflammation.  Near infrared (Pain) promotes blood flow and reduce inflammation.  Celluma is FDA approved for Acne, Wrinkles, Muscle spasms, Joint pain, etc.

Benefits of Color Wavelengths in Facial Light Therapy

There are  different lightwaves that are involved with LED therapy. Each one offers different benefits.

Red Light

Clients looking to increase their collagen production should use red light therapy. The red lights increase blood flow to capillaries on the face.

As a result, the skin begins to heal and rejuvenate itself resulting in younger looking skin. Red light therapy is also great for treating scarring and rosacea since the red light can deeply penetrate your skin past the first layer.

Blue light

Blue light is medically proven to kill P Acne bacteria beneath your skin.  This will clear up existing acne and prevent future breakouts without the use of topical medications.  It reduces acne inflammation and drastically boost skin recovery while decreasing skin oiliness by lowering excess sebum production.

Benefits of Facial Light Therapy

LED therapy is helpful for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps reduce pore size and evens out a client's skin tone. The result is smoother, brighter looking skin. LED therapy is incredibly beneficial for clients who just had a peel done. Not only will the LED facial help reduce inflammation, but your skin will also end up looking perfect very quickly. Clients also find that light therapy helps them reduce their SAD (seasonal affected disorder) symptoms during the winter when there is less natural sunlight.

Chronic Pain released with Near Infrared

How Can Infrared (IR) Light Therapy Help with Pain Management?

Poor circulation and the lack of oxygen and other essential molecules (i.e., glucose, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)) in blood vessels can cause pain or a lack of sensation.

When it comes to effective treatment of pain conditions with LED red and infrared light therapy, wavelength is key. Compared to blue light therapy, near-infrared wavelengths can penetrate deep into the muscle and joint tissue to alleviate pain, increase circulation and decrease inflammation. Infrared light therapy provides compromised cells with extra energy to accelerate the natural repair of compromised tissue cells, foster cell production, and restore homeostasis within the body.

Light energy stimulates the release of nitric oxide, causing blood vessels to increase in diameter (vasodilation) and allowing more blood flow, oxygen, and other important factors to be delivered to the cells.

This increase in oxygen and nutrients, along with stimulation of the light energy emitted from Celluma LED devices increases ATP production, which activates pain relieving pathways actually providing pain relief. This decreases pain and inflammation, and increases tissue regeneration in the localized area.

Originally developed by NASA engineers for pain management and injury treatment on long-term space missions, red and infrared light therapy is used today as a safe and natural method of treating a variety of muscle pain and skin conditions.

But you don’t need to be an astronaut to reap the benefits of infrared light therapy for pain, and you don’t need to travel to space. In fact, you don’t even need to leave your house.

Originally developed by NASA engineers for pain management and injury treatment on long-term space missions, light therapy is used today as a safe and natural method of treating a variety of pain and skin conditions.

With the development of portable infrared light therapy device design, people can take advantage of self-administered red and infrared light therapy at home. However, not all red and infrared light therapy is created equal.
